The annual meeting for the Alliance to the Medical Association for the State of Alabama was at Troy University's Dothan Campus on April 16 and 17 hosted by the Houston County Medical Alliance.

Participants enjoyed a hands-on computer lab that taught how to make the most out of social media for our Alliance. Become a fan of the Alliance to the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and see what's going on with your state and county Alliances.

Overview

The Alliance to the Medical Association of the State of Alabama is an affiliate group made up of physician spouses that assists the Association in its programs for the advancement of preventive medicine and securing adequate medical legislation. The Alliance promotes health education and supports health related charitable endeavors.

Since 1923, the Alliance to the Medical Association of the State of Alabama has been a proactive volunteer organization working in partnership with the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. We are the statewide component of the county, state and national network of volunteers that comprises the American Medical Association Alliance. The Alliance is a nonprofit organization consisting of a diverse group of physicians' spouses united by a common interest in promoting accessible quality healthcare for the people of Alabama.

PROGRAMS 

Health Programs
SAVE Program - Launched in 1995, the SAVE program to Stop America's Violence Everywhere is a nationwide grassroots initiative aimed at combating violence through a wide range of community-level initiatives.

Health Education and Awareness Programs
Each county Alliance has individual projects to serve the community. Some of these projects include Camp Rap-A-Hope, Health Line, Let's Pretend Hospital, Somebody to Talk To Puppet Shows, Body-Trek, Organella dolls and breast exam educational programs.

Legislative Affairs
The Alliance is the proactive voice of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. Through frequent legislative updates, members are educated on the issues and the legislative process. The Alliance's "Key Contact Program" encourages members to form personal relationships with legislators in order to educate them about issues that impact Alabama's health care process.

Charitable
Annually, AMASA raises a sizable amount for health-related and charitable projects. Members contribute thousands of volunteer hours to improve the healthcare for all the citizens of the State of Alabama.

Individual Opportunities
The Alliance offers a full range of personal and professional services to members that reflect the needs of physicians' spouses.
 
 


AMA ALLIANCE 

The American Medical Association Alliance, Inc., is the largest, most influential grassroots organization representing the family of medicine. As the proactive volunteer arm of the American Medical Association, the Alliance is dedicated to promoting better public health, ensuring sound health care legislation, and fund-raising for medical education. In 1995, the AMA Alliance launched the SAVE program to Stop America's Violence Everywhere. Currently, more than 600 community SAVE programs are aimed at assisting victims of abuse, teaching conflict resolution skills, and educating the public about violence.
